I have Galaxy Tab and am having all sorts of issues trying to sync Calendar data with Outlook 2007 using Kies. I have followed the prompts and originally it completely deleted my Outlook Calendar files. Then, it doesnt seem to delete appointments flagged in Outlook as "all day events" and doesnt update Outlook if those events are deleted in the Tab. Does anyone have any suggestions or can point me in the proper direction?? I also get some messages on Kies about more than 50% of my events have been deleted in Outlook when to my knowledge they have not. It then asks if I want to reset the sync history....
What am I doing wrong here?? Im new to this Android and Tablet game so answers in non-techie speak would be helpful!!! thank you

KiES takes HUUUGe time to synch and at the end, synch is not done.
I discover it works better with WIFI off the TAB, but not all the time.
Synching music does not work on mine.
I have more than 600 contacts and KiES sync contacts (no pictures) and calendar just the first time, thats all.

Running Win 7 x64

I guess KiES works best with smartphones not with the TAB

I desinstalled it and I will make a try for this <a href=[Only registered and activated users can see links] target=_blank>[Only registered and activated users can see links]>

i have a smart phone (SAMSUNG GALAXY S 2) as well as the latest kies installed and im having similar issues.. Kies is full of bugs by the sounds of it! ihavnt been able to trouble shoot it yet.. my sync would make it to 70% every time and freeze. (syncing outlook to samsung).

sync would go for 56% then i receive a Device Data Service error and when i shut this down, sync continues to 70% and stays there for HOURS!! ALL NIGHT AND DAY IF I LET IT!!

i was told by samsung to clear the history of the device and try then if that doesnt work to clear all mail accounts as well.. did all this even set the phone back to factory default settings and tried from scratch.. same issues!

the samsung help told me he has nothing else to help me!!

can anyone help me with this issue? i have it syncing all birthdays and anything new i enter into my schedules after my first attempt of syncing. though no appointments ...

beanzy,

Im having an identical problem having tried to sync my Galaxy S2 for the first time today. Sync will go to 56% or so, then i receive a Device Data Service error and shuts down, the sync then continues to 70% and never gets any further. Very frustrating.

Anyone got any ideas? beanzy did you get anywhere in the end?

Alex

I wanted my calendar on both my desktop and tablet, and its fine with me if the calendar is also in Google. Contacts are a different story, but so far I am satisfied with what Ive come up with. The jist of it is that I sync Outlook with Google and Android with Google, indirectly synching the Windows and Android systems. (As a bonus, I get web-based backup.) For stuff I dont want in Google, I copy via Samsung Kies, which Im still not satisfied with, but there wont be much of that because most documents I work on regularly dont need to be private. My next step will likely be to sync a particular Windows folder with Google Docs and Google Docs with Android.

Details:

1. I installed gSyncit on my Windows PC, which is an Outlook add-on that syncs Outlook with Google Calendar, Contacts, Notes and Tasks. I have read that some people have had trouble with it, but I am banking on it having been improved since then, as the most recent reviews seem favorable. (The demo version has problems, however, as they intentionally limit what you can do with it, and I think that in itself causes problems that hopefully are not present once you have the paid version.) So far so good, anyway. I am only using it for Calendar and Contacts (and I was reluctant to do the Contacts until I discovered you can choose to sync only Outlook Contacts that have a certain Outlook category assigned, as I dont want all my contacts on Google, only the business ones.)

2. On the Galaxy Tab, I installed a local calendar - called Calendar - that syncs with Google Calendar when its connected to the Web and works as a stand-alone when not. Thus, I have my Calendar everywhere. (At the moment I cant figure out where I got the Android calendar; I thought it was from the Android Market but it doesnt show up there as one of my installed applications, yet it runs. When I go into the programs Settings and About Calendar, it just says Software version 3.1-UEKF3. Anyway, you dont have to use this program; there are others out there that claim to do the same thing.)

3. I occasionally export my contacts from Outlook into an Excel file, which I can open with QuickOffice. (I could look for a Google Contacts synching application for the Galaxy Tab, except that I dont want all contacts in Google yet I want them all on the tablet.)

I do wish, though, for a GOOD USB or WIFI file synchronizing program (like GoodSync for Windows). I tried CompanionLink and never got it to work. Since it works with DejaOffice on the Android side, I also tried the DejaOffice task manager and found that it crashed regularly - about half the time when I tried to add a category to a task. That didnt give me much confidence regarding CompanionLink, so I uninstalled them just before my trial period was up.

I tried adding a new folder in Kies and discovered it added 4 graphics files to my photo folder. Not what I wanted. Can I add other sorts of files, like Word and Excel documents? Im not liking Kies so far, but at least sometimes it seems to let Windows see the Android as an external device. Unfortunately, it wont let other Windows programs see the Android as an external device.

Sorry for my rambling; this post is part complaint and part suggestions, which I hope are helpful to some.

Hi I purchased a Samsung Galaxy Tablet 10.1 and I want to sync it with outlook, I installed Kies and it worked okay, yesterday I tried to sync it and I it works okay with the contacts and the memos, but every time that I try to sync the schedule it just says preparing to sync was canceled, and that is the message that I get every time.
I checked Samsung website and its the worst.
I called there customer service and he didnt have a clue, he put me hold for more than 5 minutes and came back telling me that a senior engineer was on a call and they will bet back to me and gave me a ticket number and Im still waiting.
The only thing they told me is did I have outlook open or that I would need to sync with Google, (what type of answer is that)
Does anybody have any recommendations, kies doesnt even provide error codes just gives a simple error message.
I already uninstalled, re installed updated kies and same problem,
Its a petty Samsung has really good products but their support and tools at this moment are the worst
